Green Schools
Global Citizenship- Travel
Green Schools is an international environmental education programme, environmental management and award scheme that promotes and acknowledges long term, whole school action for the environment. The aim of Green Schools is to increase students' and participants awareness of environmental issues through classroom studies and transfer this knowledge into positive environmental action in the school and also in the wider community.
In order to achieve Green School status, schools have to complete 4 themes through 7 steps. The themes are: litter, energy, water and transport. So far, Scoil Mhuire has completed litter, energy and water themes and is currently working on the theme of transport.
